INTRODUCTION – WHAT IS NIPUN
NIPUN (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy) is the national mission to ensure every child achieves proficiency in reading with understanding and numeracy. It’s part of the National Education Programme 2020 (NEP), launched under the nation-sponsored Samagra Shiksha Scheme.
Nipun Bharat mission is an initiative of NEP 2020 which aims for every student to achieve Foundational Literacy & Numeracy (FLN) at an early age. For learning, early age(0 to 8 years) is the most significant period for a child’s growth and development. This age laid the foundation for a child’s holistic development. Strong and quality educational facility at this age encourages children to participate in learning and leave a lasting impact.
ACTIVITIES UNDER NIPUN BHARAT MISSION IN OUR SCHOOL

Activities for reading with understanding
(1)Help children read with comprehension:- using textbook and different learning materials.(using library books, comics books)
(2)activity-based pedagogy :- taking students on an educational tour, playing a subject-related video, and showing a documentary in the classroom.
(3)Teach in children’s home languages :- word games , jokes , riddles, rhymes,tongue twister,songs.
(4)teaching-learning material :- to engage children use different TLM (different types of houses, charts on different topic).
(5)Track children’s learning levels consistently.
(6) Assement tools :- Conduct meaningful assessments using polls, quizzes, games, etc.
(7)Oral language development :- Conversation Cards: Use conversation cards any time or place to increase a child’s use and understanding of oral language.
(8)Decoding/Understanding of letters, words :- The best practice is to start with frequently used letters, like the letters in their names.
(9)Reading Fluency by understanding meaning and punctuation.
(10)Reading comprehension accurately :- Reading comprehension exercises for all levels. Free interactive reading exercises. Fables, short stories, English talks, ebooks.
(11)Writing alphabets and words with expressions :- play alphabet hide and seek. – Write letter on dried beans.
Activities for improving numerical ability (Follows NIPUN MISSION)
(1)Pre-number concepts :- classification such as the difference in shapes, picking out between small and big, large and heavy, short and long, wide and narrow, thick and thin, tall or short, etc. This way, children learn to observe the attributes of quality, then quantity, and finally, numbers.
(2)Numbers and operations on numbers :- Play guess the number.
Get hands-on with counting objects.
(3)Shapes and Spatial Understanding 🙁 Activity)Shape Pictures: Give children pieces of colorful paper cut into basic shapes—circles, squares, triangles and rectangles.
A shape song recite by students.
Giving children different puzzles to solve.
(4)Measurement 🙁 hands on measurement activities )Footprint Path , Water Pouring, String Around Objects, Jumping Distance, Height Chart, Measuring Ingredients,Building with Blocks.
