SOP/NDMA
To produce fire safe work environment by scheduled check-up of equipment involved in fire prevention and control such as;
- Evacuation: Adequacy of exits and no blockage to them.
- Fire alarm and detection: fire, smoke & heat detection system and evacuation alarm.
- Water supply: Storage, pump and distribution system.
- Fire Extinguishing Systems and Equipment: Sprinkler, Hose pipe, portable fire extinguisher etc.
General first aid
- Move victim to fresh air and call emergency medical care;
- if not breathing, give artificial respiration; if breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
- In case of contact with fire material, immediately flush skin or eyes with running water for at least 15 minutes.
- Keep victim quiet and maintain normal body temperature.
- Effects may be delayed; keep victim under observation.
SOP DURING EARTHQUAKE
Procedure Alarm Operation:
- Be alert whenever pre-arranged distinctive signal such as a siren or bell set off.
- Listen to Public Address System for instructions / updates.
Response:
- Immediately report nearby School Staff / Reception if witnessed sudden shaking.
- Move away from windows, glass and unfastened objects.
- Perform “DROP, COVER AND HOLD ON DRILL” under tables, desks or chairs until the “shaking” signal stops.
- Evacuation and Assembly.
- Once the shaking stops:
- On staircases:
– Leave the building in single file and in a calm, orderly manner. (Two files if staircase is wide)
– Follow pre-determined route unless instructed otherwise.
– Assist pupils with physical or mental disabilities during evacuation.
– No running to avoid panic and stampede.
– Descend in disciplined file.
– No overtaking of classes or individuals.
